A popcorn brand waded into a conversation about multi-million transfers
In the middle of the transfer window, with the figures of a deal doing the rounds online, a popcorn brand's account decided to join the conversation with a price comparison between what had been paid and what that money buys you in its own product.
«Hombre, si queríais un paquete, por 20 millones te podías haber comprado unos cuantos de los buenos…»
Wading into someone else's conversation is one of the things that goes worst for a brand, except when the joke is not aimed at anyone in particular. Here the humour lies in the wordplay and the disproportion, not in singling out a player: which is why it works without leaving the aftertaste of the opportunistic brand.
